Le Veritable Dragon Rouge is one of the more famous and outrageous of grimoires on necromancy.

This text goes by many names. With regards to this, the most popular being: Le Veritable Dragon Rouge or The Grand Grimoire. It attests to the art of controlling aerial, terrestrial, and infernal spirits. The first book contains four chapters.

This Grimoire has been passed down over hundreds of years.

With this in mind, the first chapter is a short note from J. Karter, stating where he got the information on the subject of black magic from. He states that this information came straight from the mouth of King Solomon, a famous demonologist. Therefore, this makes this texts earliest date to be somewhere between 971 to 930 B.C.E.

In contrast, the text goes in depth to the act of necromancy. The second chapter leads on with a prayer and a ceremony. With this ceremony, there must be a sacrifice to offer Adonay, Eloim, Ariel, and Jehovam. It goes into detail about killing the victim. Telling the reader to shed the skin off and throw the rest into the fire. The necromancer does this, in order to let the body turn to ash. After the body burns completely, the throw the ashes up towards the rising sun while saying a short prayer.

The third chapter provides an image containing the true composition of the mysterious wand or blasting rod. In short, this is used for commanding the spirits. Furthermore, the text states:

Specifically, it is of wild hazel which has never borne fruit; its length is nineteen and a half inches with a forked end and magnetized steel caps on the pointed ends.

Subsequently, the fourth and final chapter in the first book contains the true representation of the great Cabalistic Circle. It offers two prayers to give in order, an offertory, and four conjurations in a row. The first conjuration addresses Lucifer, the emperor of Hell. The fourth is a grand conjuration, and it is from the Veritable Calvicle. On the condition that the performance of the conjurations is correct, there is a manifestation of a spirit. The reader must fully invite the spirit into this world. After the being takes the request of the necromancer, there is a final conjuration to force the spirit to take its leave. Finally, there is the act of thanksgiving, where the reader thanks to the Almighty for what it has given.

The second book discusses the manner of making pacts.  It shows the signs and symbols, which the reader needs for the manifestation of the spirit.
